MARS CLIMBS TO FOURTH IN HOME STATE
6, 2020) The Mars Racing team returned to the track for
the first time since the conclusion of the 'Wild West Shootout'
miniseries - held in Arizona back in mid-January - on Friday evening,
May 1 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin.
The track's 12th Annual Season Opener drew a strong field of Late
Models for the unsanctioned event, which was broadcast live on Pay-Per-View
on www.racindirt.com and had no race fans in the grandstands due
to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.
Jimmy Mars clicked off the fastest lap in his group during the
qualifying session and later placed third in his stacked heat race.
With $2,000 on the line for the victor of the main event, Jimmy
rolled off from the outside of the fourth row. Following thirty
green flag racing circuits around the Badger State facility, the
Menomonie, Wisconsin Hall of Famer wound up fourth in the final
finishing order of the feature behind only race winner James Giossi,
Jake Timm, and Justin Ritchie. Full results from 'The Race To Be
Essential' can be viewed online at www.mississippithunder.com.
Jimmy and his #28 team are slated to remain idle over the upcoming
May 8-9 weekend, but will head south to the Show-Me State on May
15-16 for a World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series
doubleheader. Jimmy is scheduled to vie for the $6,000 top prize
in Friday's shootout at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, while
a $10,000 winner's check will be on the line in Saturday's program
at the Pevely, Missouri oval. These two events at the St. Louis-area
facility will be held in front of a limited grandstand crowd and
broadcast LIVE on DIRTVision. More information on the upcoming double-dip
at Pevely can be located by clicking on www.woolms.com.
