(August 21, 2018)
The "Iceman" Jimmy Mars recorded his seventh triumph of the 2018 racing season on Friday night, August 17 in the 'Duane Mahder Memorial' at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin! Jimmy won his heat race from the ninth starting position and later rolled off from the inside of the second row in the 55-lap WISSOTA Challenge Series shootout. Jimmy then overtook leader Pat Doar just before the halfway mark and went on to bag the $5,555 top prize ahead of A.J. Diemel, Pat Doar, Jesse Glenz, and Mike Prochnow!

Following his second straight 'Duane Mahder Memorial' victory, Jimmy turned his focus to another WISSOTA Challenge Series program on Saturday evening, August 18 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace won his heat race prior to starting the $2,500 to win headliner from the inside of the fourth row. Unfortunately, Jimmy developed a hole in his radiator during the course of the 40-lapper - while inside of the top five - and was forced to retire in the sixteenth position. Full results from both Badger State facilities can be viewed online at www.wissotachallengeseries.com.

"To win the Duane Mahder Memorial for the second year in a row is special - that race has become a pretty big deal around this area," quoted Mars this week. "We had a good car all night long and I can't thank my father-in-law Paul Gilberts enough for putting that kind of equipment together for me to race when we take a little break from our Super Late Model. Then at Cedar Lake, we had our hopes high for another strong run on Saturday, but a hole in the radiator knocked us out of contention there. It's always a lot of fun to race around home in front of familiar faces and we'll get everything back together to run in the Silver 1000 next week!"

The Mars Racing team is now slated to enjoy the August 24-25 weekend away from the racetrack. Jimmy's next scheduled event is the 46th edition of the 'Silver 1000' on Thursday night, August 30 at Proctor Speedway in Proctor, Minnesota. A $2,750 winner's check will be on the line for the WISSOTA Late Models, but over $3,500 can be won with additional lap money and other bonuses. Jimmy will be gunning for his third career 'Silver 1000' title and his second straight, as he is the defending race winner.

On Friday evening, August 31, the action will quickly turn to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for the annual 'George & Russ Scheffler Memorial.' The single-day Super Late Model showdown boasts a $10,074 payday. Jimmy is a multi-time winner of this special event when it was formerly held at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
