LANDS ON PODIUM TWICE DURING PUNKY MANOR!
(September 26, 2019)
Jimmy Mars, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, invaded
his hometown Red Cedar Speedway on September 20-21 for the 40th
Annual 'Punky Manor Challenge of Champions.' Behind the wheel of
his father-in-law's #28 Late Model, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary
action and later rolled off from the outside of the second row in
Saturday's $4,000 to win main event. In the entertaining 40-lap
feature, Jimmy - despite encountering brake issues - was able to
move up to third to finish on the podium behind only victor Jesse
Glenz and runner-up A.J. Diemel.
In Open Wheel Modified competition, Jimmy placed third in his heat
race to earn the inside of the sixth row for the start of the 30-lap
headliner. With his sights set on the $2,000 winner's check, the
popular driver known as the "Iceman" steered past eight
competitors en route to another third place podium performance behind
only race winner Jake Hartung and runner-up Dave Cain. Full results
from the 'Punky Manor Challenge of Champions' can be viewed online
Next up for Jimmy will be a visit to ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin
on September 27-28, as he will compete in the 44th edition of the
'Red Clay Classic.' Jimmy will once again unload both cars at his
home state venue, as he guns for the $5,000 top prize with the WISSOTA
Late Models and the $4,000 paycheck with the WISSOTA Modifieds.
He is a six-time 'Red Clay Classic' victor with five career Late
Model triumphs and one Open Wheel Modified win to his credit. More
